I am honoured to be able to be bringing you a monthly video featuring Ellen Hutson new release products! Today I am working with Julie Ebersole's March release that was inspired by her recent trip to Japan. I used two stamp sets to bring this card to life – So Matcha and Wasabi. I have to have a good LAUGH! I was looking everywhere for the fan when I re-took the photos for my blog and now I see it under the vellum LOL.
I wanted to create my own background paper. Normally I stamp randomly all over the page but this time, I used my MISTI to be able to line up all of the stamps. I also used the chopstick stamp to break up each of the rows.
I embossed the bamboo in white on top of the vellum, which was die cut using the MFT Corner Rectangle Nesting Dies, to help give a base to my stamped Japanese ladies! I used my waterbrush and my Catherine Pooler inks (Bellini and Lime Rickey) to watercolour their clothes so they matched the background.
That fan just makes me giggle – I was going to retake the photos, and maybe I will but I think it's just a really funny crafty mistake! I love how the vellum makes the background a little more subtle and adds a little extra detail. Fun fact, this wasn't the only issue I had! When I finished my card, I accidentally put my microfibre cloth on top of the card (still wet) and I had to redo the vellum piece this morning. Sometimes all of us crafters have those days! Did you know that dental floss helps get layers off of your card after they have dried? Just move the floss back and forth and it will cut through the adhesive layer!
