8 Ways to Use Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

Today marks the beginning of April and a new event that I’m hosting on my blog this month. All month, I will be posting Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a couple bonuses in between and each of the videos is going to be a collaboration with a favourite artist of mine. I am so looking forward to introducing you to some of my favourite artists and showing off bulk card videos featuring my favourite techniques. The best part about creating all of these videos is that they are 100% my own without any design team restrictions! I’m pulling whatever out of my stash and having fun enjoying some old supplies.

Behind a Die Cut

Today I am collaborating with the fabulous Niki Coursey on how to use alcohol ink backgrounds. This first card uses a few techniques like adding a cover plate die cut over top of the alcohol inked background. I topped it off with a piece of vellum to tone everything down. The All About Mom stamp and die were perfect to finish off the card.

In-Lay Die Cutting – 2 for 1 Cards!

This card was a 2-for-1 card featuring the Lovely Blossoms die. I interchanged the alcohol inked die cuts between two cards (above and below) to create two pretty cards using one background.

As an Entire Background

I like to use some of the lighter colours as a complete background with a die cut. If you would like to stamp on these backgrounds you will have to use some StazOn ink otherwise the inks will smudge. I used this awesome Simple Love Die.

Using an Embossing Folder

You can also use an embossing folder to create some texture on the cardstock. I also added foil to some of the areas that took longer to dry.
