Today’s video collaboration focuses on some of my favourite cardmaking hacks. Today I am exploring 5 of my favourite hacks while Gerry from Gerry’s Craftroom is exploring 5 additional hacks that she loves. Who doesn’t love things that make their crafting more efficient and easier? I really hope you enjoy the 5 techniques I have to offer and I look forward to creating more videos like this in the future.
Dream Drops on Black Cardstock
Who knew that you can use drops to create these fun backgrounds? Give it a try on both black, white and coloured cardstock to see what kind of results you can get. These are beautiful drops in very neutral off-white colours but when you apply them as a paste to black cardstock, the results are stunning! Give them a spread using the new spatula tools from Tonic Studios.
Custom Coloured Sequins or Pearls
You can simply purchase white sequins and white nuvo drops and colour them using alcohol ink markers (any brand will do!). This will not only save you money but also the space of having so many different colour sequins. Use tweezers to help keep them in place or you can use removable adhesive.
DIY Embossing Powder
Did you know that one embossing powder is all you need? If you have clear embossing powder, all you need is to stamp using your ink pad and quickly pour clear embossing powder on top. Using a heat tool, melt the powder and you are good to go! If your ink is drying too fast to catch the embossing powder, use a stamping tool and stamp the image in regular ink followed by versamark ink overtop. This will help it stay longer.
You will have to watch the video tutorial for this one. Using the Misti stamping tool and a 6×6 piece of cardstock, I stamped four images at a time for easy bulk stamping by rotating my cardstock each time I stamped. This is really great for layering stamps that take a little longer to line up than normal stamps. This Build-A-Flower: Peruvian Lily Stamp ( ALTN | ELH | SSS ) is one of my favourites of all time! It’s super realistic and stunning!
Embossing on Vellum
For this card I combined several of the techniques, plus a new one. I have plenty of tips on how to emboss vellum to minimize warping. I also added in some of the bulk flowers and the custom pearls technique.
