1. Add a Photo

Print off some photos of pets, children, or families and create a frame around it. I took this card a step further and foiled the frame using the Glimmer Hot Foil System ( SPL | SBC | SSS ) and the Spellbinders Christmas Essential Glimmer Circles ( SPL ) to foil a sentiment around the photo. These unique Christmas cards will make someone's day! The Essential Glimmer Rectangles Hot Foil Plates( SPL | SBC | SSS ) around the white cardstock really make the card pop!

2. Adding Names

There is no easier way to personalize a custom card than to add the person's name to it. I used the Bold Alphabet Die Set – Altenew( ALTN | SBC | ELH | SSS ) to cut out the last name from the background. You can use patterned paper for the background or blend a background like I did using the Ergonomic Blending Brush ( PNK ) and Snowflakes Stencil – 6×8( SBC ) in Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire ink.

3. Add a Hobby or Interest

Does the receiver like something particular? A sport's team or a favourite hobby are a great way to make a custom card. I used this Harry Potter Digital Download ( ETS ) that I paid just $1 for and I used my Cricut Machine ( CRC ) to foil the image onto some navy cardstock. This is an extra Cricut attachment called the We R Memory Keepers – Foil Quill – Standard Tip Pen ( SBC | ELH ). You can also add a wax seal for something extra special on the envelope!

I purchased a custom wax seal from Nostalgic Impressions and my Harry Potter one I got at the stationary shop at Universal Studios but Amazon has a really pretty one as well!

4. Hand-Tracing or Hand-Lettering

As much as I love hand lettering and brush lettering, I'm not the best at it. You can fake it though by using Alphabet stamps like the Bold & Brushy Stamp ( C&9 | ELH | SSS ) or the Bold & Brushy Uppercase stamp set ( C&9 | SBC | SSS | ELH ). I also used the light on my phone and some printed images so I could trace some elements on my card. If you do this often, you could grab yourself a Light Board (AMZ).
