Today I am exploring 5 different ways to use vellum. As an elegant-style, cardmaker I find vellum to be something I use quite often. I don't create cards often with the idea of using vellum, but often I use vellum to calm down backgrounds that are too busy for me.
Belly Bands
I love creating cards with different folds (hint hint for my next video!) but they often require a belly band or something to hold everything together. Vellum is a great material for this because it's not distracting.
Heat Embossing
Heat embossing on vellum can be a very beautiful touch to any card. I recommend thicker vellum for this technique to avoid warping and be sure to heat from the front and back sides.
Stamping
Now this is where knowing your inks really comes in handy. Dye inks will not work – you need an ink that is able to be stamped on non-porous surfaces like Gina K Amalgam Ink. This does need to be heat set. I believe the only inks on the market that can be stamped without heat setting on vellum are StazOn. I don't like that they stain my stamps so I'm happy to go the extra mile and heat set.
Alcohol Inks
Alcohol inks are an amazing medium when working on non-porous surface like metal, plastic and more, but how about vellum! These are super fun, quick drying and look quite different than stamping on alcohol ink cardstock.

To answer your how do you craft, like you my style varies. I typically have the TV going in the background or complete silence. I spend 40 hrs a week in a noisy office with machines, phones, & people taking the entire time so silence is golden!
