It is my very first time working with Waffle Flower and I'm very excited to be a part of their release! I'm working with the stunning Sunflower Love and Simply Said 1 Stamp Sets today and I made 5 cards for some inspiration on how to use the set. In today's video I go through so many techniques – coloured pencils, embossing, masking, and creating dimension. This video is probably one of my favourites ever. I just love the results.
I really wanted to create five cards that incorporated various looks so that you could see how versatile the stamp set can be. In the end, the focus is mostly on the Sunflower Love set and I've splattered some of the sentiments from the Simply Said 1 set.
Card #1: Coloured Pencils on Dark Cardstock
For this card, I channelled my inner Yana Smakula and created this card using my Prismacolor 150 Colored Pencils ( SSS | ELH | AMZUS ). I love how the pigment just blended into the dark cardstock and created a gorgeous look. I coloured on some Gina K In the Navy Cardstock and I heat embossed the Sunflowers using WOW Embossing Powder, Super Fine – Metallic Gold Rich Pale ( ELH | SSS ).
Card #2: Embossed Repeat Sentiments
For this card, I stamped the background using the same Sunflower cluster as used above in Twilight Ink. If I were to do this caed again, I would have probably chosen a lighter grey colour. I then took some scraps of cardstock in rainbow colours and stamped the hugs stamp from the Simply Said Stamp Set. I heat embossed these in white and die cut them.
Card #3: Masked Rainbow
For this card I wanted something really vibrant. I was inspired by the colours on the previous card and decided to use some inks to create a rainbow. I masked off each line and using a blending tool, I created each stripe. I stamped the second sunflower stamp, this time containing a space for a sentiment. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the sentiment frame and stamped hello inside. I think this made the sentiment really pop rather than stamping it over the rainbow and getting lost in the background.
Card #4: Black and White Dimension
Next, I wanted to create a black and white, elegant card but I did want to step things up a bit rather than just stamping the background. I went ahead and stamped the sunflower all over the background. I then stamped a second time on a scrap sheet of paper and die cut it. Using some Scrapbook.com – Double Sided Adhesive Foam Squares – Small Squares ( SBC ), I placed it overtop of the same stamp. It created a beautiful shadow. Lastly, I die cut the thanks sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp and glued it on top.
Card #5: Masking off White Space
This is my favourite out of the bunch, actually its a tie between the first and last. For this card I did a double masking technique. I stamped the sunflower onto the cardstock, then onto some masking paper. I fussy cut the cluster and placed it on top. I then masked off two lines using purple tape and blended the background. When I removed that mask I was astounded by how beautiful it looked.
