Hi Crafters, Today is my last post as a guest designer for My Favorite Things. Being a part of the MFT fun this month has been an amazing experience! Today I decided to play around with some Halloween stamps. Halloween has some of my favourite color combinations and it is an excuse to get nice and inky! One thing I have been obsessed with lately are Distress Oxide inks. For this card, a little preplanning is necessary.
Determine how many colours you want to use. With a pencil mark the centre point and quickly sketch the spiral so that each color comes up the same amount of times (I’m a teacher and I know fractions aren’t everyone’s favourite thing). I didn’t do any measuring for this, I just did it. If some areas end up bigger or smaller, it’s no problem. The important thing is that you don’t end up with two of the same colour side-by-side at the very end. I used Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade and Wilted Violet. I masked off each area with Post It Tape so I could do one area at a time with straight lines. When I was finished I sprayed some water to create the oxidized effect.

Shirt/Pants: R24. R37, R59
Skin: (Superhero) E000, E00, E11, (Frankenstein/Superhero Shirt) YG03, YG23, YG25
Black Hair/Clothing: N4, N6, N8
Blonde Hair: E11, E34, E15, E37, Y15
For the final touch, I coloured some of the Halloween Characters from the Happy Haunting set using Copic Markers. I attached them to a circle that I die cut and added the Happy Haunting Sentiment. You can attach this to the centre of the card. I ended up cutting out the centre of the card using the circle die and adding the white one in the middle so I could have less layers.
Copic Markers:
Grey/Black: N0, N2, N4, N6, N8
Green: YG05, YG07
Orange: YR04, YR16
Red: R37
This card is a little bit more clean and simple but uses the same circle die set. I began by cutting the circle out of the middle of my card panel. I got stitching on the inside and outside of the circle which adds an awesome extra touch. I stamped the Ghostly Greetings sentiment from the Fab-BOO-lous Friends stamp in the middle.
I then stamped all the characters onto a piece of cardstock and copic coloured them. I cut them out using the coordinating dies and arranged them in a circle around the frame I cut out. I glued the frame onto a card base and added the sentiment using foam tape. I loved these small images because there isn’t a lot of room for error or complicated Copic blending.
I hope that you like these two different ideas for Halloween cards. All of the images from the August release are just adorable! I can’t wait to create some more to give to some of the special kids in the neighbourhood!
