Die Cutting Techniques: Guest Designer for My Favorite Things!

Hi Crafters, I am so excited to be guest designing today for My Favorite Things. It has truly been a dream of mine for years! Today I was inspired to create from a Color Combination: Ripe Raspberry, Sour Apple and Summer Splash. I created two cards using this combination that both have different die cutting techniques.

I love stamps where it is as easy as stamp and go. I like colouring and time-consuming projects as well but sometimes when I have limited time, it is great to make a card in minutes. I created this card by stamping the In Bloom solid flowers all over my card panel to create a pattern. I tried to fit them as closely together as possible and even went off the edge for a more natural look.

After I was finished my stamping. I took the Die-Namics Stitched Collage Frame die and ran my stamped background through my die cutting machine. I create an A2 sized card base and attached the frame using regular glue and the inside squares and rectangles using 3D foam tape. Lastly I added my sentiment which is from the Flamazing Stamp Set. You could embellish the card further with Nuvo drops or a Glitter pen but since I’m on vacation at the moment with limited supplies, I kept things simple.

I really wanted to create something different for my second card so I created a Number 10 Card. When folded the dimensions are 4 x 9 ¼ inches. I wanted to create a collage or scene using the  Flamazing Stamp Set. I stamped out the background using my combination of Ripe Raspberry, Summer Splash and Sour Apple, but I added Kraft ink as well for the sand on the beach. After finishing the background, I stamped the flowers, flamingo bodies and the palm leaves onto a piece of cardstock and die cut the images. I added the legs, tree truck, beaks, eyes and wings afterwards to ensure perfect alignment. You can do this easily with a MISTI Stamping Tool as shown in my video.

I glued everything down using both regular glue and foam tape to add dimension to the scene. I added a sentiment and cut it out using the Essential Speech Die-namics which comes free this month with orders of $60 or more! I ended up finding that the card panel got lost on the card base so I added some Summer Splash cardstock as a mat for the card. Number 10 cards are a lot of fun and it allows you to fit many elements onto one card or larger dies.
