Craftroom Organization 101: The Craft Table

Hi crafters,

welcome to my organization series. Today I am focussing on the main part of the craftroom which is the table or desk itself. Everyone has a different space to work with – from the dining room table, to a desk in the corner of the living room (like myself) or an entire crafting room oasis. My main advice is do what works for you and your space and what makes you feel happy – not what someone shows you that looks neater, cleaner or prettier than yours.

This is my craftroom – I have the Micke Desk from Ikea with the add-on unit. As you can see, most of my things are within arms reach with just a couple of drawers off to the side.  On my whiteboard, I keep my Hex Chart for my Copics and an inspirational quote.

For me it was important to have my main drawer clutter-free. I used to have it full of things, but I noticed that I was wasting time looking for things and rummaging through my drawers. Now, I simply have my Misti, Stamp Press, Trimmer, Embossing Powder (white), baby wipes, hand sanitizer and a little tin in the bag with tape and staples.

This is my main area off to the side. I have my Copic Markers in the bottom shelf. One day I will have a neater way of storing these. Above that, I have my mini inks stored in Tim Holtz tins. Above that I have my dies and Art Journals.

Here is my “grab n go” container. It's an old candle gift box. I have my bon folder, craft knife, pens, scissors, embossing bag and some pencils ready to grab!

Craftroom Organization 101: The Craft Table On top of my drawers off to the side, I have my paper – all cut down to 6×6 or 4×5 1/4. On the side I have my giveaway items. Behind that I have my paintbrushes and then I have a container for my Tim Holtz stamps and Background Stamps.
See you tomorrow for Stamp Storage!
